Beyond the Blackboard
"Beyond the Blackboard," based on a true story, tells the story of a 24-year-old first-time teacher who makes a difference in the lives of the homeless children she teaches in a makeshift classroom in a shelter. This film, set in 1987 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, tells the story of a new teacher and mother who is assigned a difficult teaching job and ends up teaching homeless children in a school housed in a room and dubbed "The School with No Name." She has some personal prejudices to overcome before she can be a true teacher for these children, and there are also obstacles such as a lack of books and supplies.
