Flee
Amin reflects on his childhood as an Afghan refugee, recounted primarily in animation to hide his identity, as he struggles with a secret he's kept hidden for 20 years. To actually have a future, an Afghan gay survivor must face his past in a riveting documentary that uses a combination of animation and archive video. Amin was brought to Denmark as an unaccompanied minor by his family. He is now 36 years old, a respected academic, and engaged to be married to the man he has been dating for more than a decade. Secrets that he's been keeping for more than two decades could bring down the life he's constructed. For the first time, he's opening up to a close buddy about his past. FLEE tells a moving and original narrative about a young guy who must confront his painful past in order to rediscover his true self and the meaning of home.
