Lola
Germany in the fall of 1957: Lola, a seductive cabaret singer-prostitute exults in her power as a temptress of males, but she desires out-- she desires money, property, and love. Matching a corrupt structure contractor versus the new straight-arrow structure commissioner, Lola releases a horrendous plan to raise herself in a globe where everything, and also everyone, is available for sale. Shot in childlike candy shades, Fassbinder's homage to Josef von Sternberg's traditional Heaven Angel stands as a satiric homage to commercialism.
